To preach or not to preach

Many years ago, when I preached to a young muslim girl who ate meat, asking how she would feel if we consumed her body, she said, yes, please eat it. That was a frustrating experience for me, and I yelled at her. I was consumed with rage.

Even now, I continue to meet those who are meat eaters or those who are following a strange faith, and I find it confusing to decide what Krishna would want me to do in this situation. What is the best thing to do?

The reason these people believe what they do is because they have lust and desires that cover them, and the illusory energy provides them with suitable "logic" and appropriate religions to pursue their illicit activities. The reason I am able to understand this and know what is true is only because of the mercy of Krishna and His devotees upon me.

So to "save" these people, the only solution is to bring Krishna's mercy to them, the mercy of devotees upon them. There is no other way to bring them to understand. When they are purified, they will automatically become eligible to understand. It is best to offer prasada, chant in front of them, give them books... basically engage them in Krishna's service in some way. This is the path of bringing mercy to people. To enable someone to have the intelligence to understand, we have to bring mercy to them in some form or another. There is no other way.

I took twelve years to understand this simple point.
