Self-realisation is the most important thing to me.
No. Its a lie. Big, fat, ugly, lie. Because your actions don't match your words and your words don't match your thinking.
You actually have this priority list: Money, Food, Shelter, Security, Health, Friendship, and then if there is time - self-realisation.
Well if you haven't heard already - the people who are successful at something usually make that something their first priority. So you know how you'll fare at this one right?
Why the priorities are the way they are? It's because you're conditioned enough to think - I am this body - I can't live without money, food, shelter. I need to be healthy to procure more and more money. And I need friendship because when I become old I won't have anyone to help me with living on a useless life with nothing left to do save watch TV and see young children doing the same thing I did at that age.
So at the end of your life, you're still going to be at square one. You will have finished the duration of life, you will have done nothing for self-realisation, and you will have so many attachments, and so many unfulfilled desires, and so many karmic reactions (good and bad) waiting for you. So you will die, be born again, learn to talk, walk, earn, reproduce, die. And so on and so forth, until you see whats going on. The same thing happening over and over again. Painful. Sometimes rich, sometimes poor. Sometimes human, sometimes dog/ fish/ insect.
Thats exactly why the nature of material existence is called MISERABLE. Its because you gain nothing from all the efforts put in at the high paying job for 40 years. Next life you may be suffering like crazy even though the money from your previous life that you left behind as you died, would have been enough to keep you "happy" for some time. Because its all temporary. Nothing lasts forever - not money, not education, pious deeds, nor does love last. Nothing. Everything goes down the rabbit hole. Empty handed you walk from one body into another. And instead of observing remotely, again you involve yourself into the emotional/ mental workings of the body in that particular life. I am Sheeba, I am Stewart, I am Nassir, I am Bulla Shah... Bulla ki jaana main kaun? I am nobody. I am none of these. I am consciousness. I am infinite.
Spiritual success is permanent. It does not fade away and wither with time unlike most things we know - bodies.
In fact it gives ever-increasing bliss. One may ask, how is that possible? Well, you, who consider yourself this finite length and breadth of flesh, bones, blood and mucus - you can obviously not imagine, even willingly, what it is to be infinite. So what if the truth is way out of your reach? So what if you are not who you think you are? Right now, you want to remain in this fantasy. Fine then. As you like it. You won't know the truth until you're ready.
