Complete Surrender is the Chief Symptom of a Pure Devotee

Complete faith can sustain complete surrender forever, unconditionally.

Complete faith means one has no doubts about Krishna's plan. One is not wondering, using one's own intelligence, is Krishna asking me to do correctly? Is Guru saying something practical? Is this possible? Give up this kind of intelligence.

Complete surrender is the chief symptom of a pure devotee. Su-lakshan. Saranagati is the chief symptom of surrender.

Just surrender NOW. NOW! Not later, not that you are not prepared. Why do you exist? Why do you continue to exist without surrendering? What is the use of your existence?

Illusion? Why do you continue to allow maya to act through you? Why do you participate in this illusion? The correct use of your independence and free will is to surrender to Krishna.

Consider all the problems you face in serving Krishna as the greatest pleasure.

Only men of small intelligence worship others; worship Krishna. Krishna is the shelter for each and every one. He is the Supreme, the source of all incarnations.

If Krishna desires - you should burn to ashes right now. Why do you have a problem? Give up all past understandings. Give up all past impressions. All past - just forget it. Who are you, where you come from - all these impressions - just forget. He will give you the nectar of immortality, the nectar of loving mellows with Him. Just become a servant.

You are a servant of Krishna. Now simply surrender to Him, and let Him act through you. Whatever obstacles, problems, pains maya gives you in trying to satisfy Krishna, that is the highest happiness. That is the ultimate joy. All the calamities, all the problems, let them come, do not fear.

Don't hesitate to surrender. Don't worry. Give up your independent desire and intelligence separate from Krishna.

Moment you surrender, no more independence. You don't have any more independence. What Krishna wants, what is His will, you have to accept it.

Speculators don't surrender unto Me.

Immorality and morality, righteousness and wrongdoing, lust, greed, passion, selfishness, envy, all these things, are ugly without connection to Krishna. Everything connected with Krishna is beautiful, conspiracy, murder, fighting, violence, manipulation, chala-kapata, these things all become beautiful in connection with Krishna.

So give up these religions. I will be honest, I will be good, I will be loved by all, I will please all by my behavior. No. Give it up. Give up. DO what Krishna says. He says you jump into fire, jump. He says kill them, kill them. He says tell a lie, just lie. He says do this immoral act - just do it. Don't do anything else. Just do as He says. Don't hesitate. Don't doubt His plan.

Forget all other things. Just forget whatever you have learned from your parents, from the people of this illusory world. Erase it all. Just write down these things in their place. The truth. Only the truth.

Whatever happens is Krishna's will. Nothing can happen without Krishna's will. You cannot have a separate will from that of Krishna. That is illusion. You have separate will, and that happened? That is illusion. Nothing happens without Krishna's will.

If Krishna wants you will be burnt to ashes, if that gives Him pleasure, why do you refuse? You will be burnt to ashes anyways, if it gives Him pleasure why do you grumble? Why don't you accept.

Surrender and you will be happy. No more anxieties. No more fear.

Don't care, whatever troubles come, whatever suffering comes, it should be your greatest pleasure. Param sukha. Supreme happiness.

If you retain your independence, you have not become Krishna's. You reject bhakti - what is this - Krishna wants me to burn myself to ashes, why should I do that? Nonsense. No faith. No faith that Krishna's plan is perfect. It is for your greatest benefit. He is your best well wisher.

Those who are covered in ignorance, they cannot understand Krishna's instruction to surrender.

Unless one is fixed in surrender, he cannot do pure bhajan.

He may be doing bhajan, but what kind of bhajan is that. It is artificial bhajan. Bhajan with duplicity, with material desires. That is not pure, not complete surrender.

Things to remember

Reading, hearing Bhagavatam sincerely gives Krishna prema.

If you have Krishna prema you can surrender to Krishna.

If you serve a mahatma you can follow the instructions of surrender.

If you associate with "asat" you will not be able to follow instructions.

You must be Krishna Conscious 24 hours.

You must be humble and tolerant - otherwise you will lose your bhakti.

Everyone else is serving Krishna - only you are not doing so - thus you are most condemned.

Only by the mercy of Guru and Krishna one receives the seed of devotional service. This is very rare, and one should protect and safeguard this jewel with ones life.

One who has not served a Mahatma, will never be attracted to devotional activities like reading, hearing and chanting.

By serving with all ones senses beginning with the tongue (taste and vibrate) one can quickly attain Krishna prema. sevonmuhke hi jihvadau swayam eva sphurty adah.

One must guard against misconceptions which are caused by illusion.

One must know that a person who is not Krishna Conscious has no good qualities, although they might seem very charming. They are like snakes, envious and dangerous.

Root cause of all misery is gross ignorance and false identification of the soul with the body.

If you love Mahaprabhu, don't speak about anything other than Krishna, don't think of anyone else other than Krishna.

The mind will always tell you to hope against hope.

The mind will always try to insert pride. Reject it immediately.

The mind will always try to make you enjoy the world with your senses, sleep and eat.

You are a very, very, very small spirit soul - compared to the number of souls and universes and to Krishna, you are very insignificant. But because in your mind you are the most important person, thus in your life you consider your body as the most important thing or person. You cannot understand the big picture, and are only obsessed with your own self.

When Krishna gives you direct attention you ought to feel overwhelmed, because you're so tiny and easily unnoticed. Its a very very big thing for you to receive His favor, or the favor of His devotees.

Asat sanga tyag ei vaishnav achar

Never ever associate with non-devotees and woman-hunters. Always search out pure devotees, serve their Lotus feet, and remain thus engaged 24 hours. Preach to others - but never Take their association.

Important

To escape the clutches of maya, you must serve a pure devotee - mahatma, who is engaged in Krishna Consciousness 24 hours. Preaching 24 hours. Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 5.5.2.

And if you don't serve a pure devotee, you don't serve a mahatma, but you associate with non-devotees and those who are fond of women, then you will open your gates to the path of hell. Śrīmad Bhāgavatam 7.5.30.

One can understand Kṛṣṇa only by serving a mahat, a great soul. Those who try to adjust material conditions are said to be chewing the chewed. No one has been able to adjust material conditions, but life after life, generation after generation, people try and repeatedly fail. Unless one is properly trained by a mahat — a mahātmā, or unalloyed devotee of the Lord — there is no possibility of one's understanding Kṛṣṇa and His devotional service.

SYNONYMS

vadanti — they say; tat — that; tattva-vidaḥ — the learned souls; tattvam — the Absolute Truth; yat — which; jñānam — knowledge; advayam — nondual; brahma iti — known as Brahman; paramātmā iti — known as Paramātmā; bhagavān iti — known as Bhagavān; śabdyate — it so sounded.

TRANSLATION

Learned transcendentalists who know the Absolute Truth call this nondual substance Brahman, Paramātmā or Bhagavān.

PURPORT

The Absolute Truth is both subject and object, and there is no qualitative difference there. Therefore, Brahman, Paramātmā and Bhagavān are qualitatively one and the same. The same substance is realized as impersonal Brahman by the students of the Upaniṣads, as localized Paramātmā by the Hiraṇyagarbhas or the yogīs, and as Bhagavān by the devotees. In other words, Bhagavān, or the Personality of Godhead, is the last word of the Absolute Truth. Paramātmā is the partial representation of the Personality of Godhead, and impersonal Brahman is the glowing effulgence of the Personality of Godhead, as the sun rays are to the sun-god. Less intelligent students of either of the above schools sometimes argue in favor of their own respective realization, but those who are perfect seers of the Absolute Truth know well that the above three features of the one Absolute Truth are different perspective views seen from different angles of vision.

As it is explained in the first śloka of the First Chapter of the Bhāgavatam, the Supreme Truth is self-sufficient, cognizant and free from the illusion of relativity. In the relative world the knower is different from the known, but in the Absolute Truth both the knower and the known are one and the same thing. In the relative world the knower is the living spirit or superior energy, whereas the known is inert matter or inferior energy. Therefore, there is a duality of inferior and superior energy, whereas in the absolute realm both the knower and the known are of the same superior energy. There are three kinds of energies of the supreme energetic. There is no difference between the energy and energetic, but there is a difference of quality of energies. The absolute realm and the living entities are of the same superior energy, but the material world is inferior energy. The living being in contact with the inferior energy is illusioned, thinking he belongs to the inferior energy. Therefore there is the sense of relativity in the material world. In the Absolute there is no such sense of difference between the knower and the known, and therefore everything there is absolute.
